The back panel of the iPhone has been made touch-sensitive with a feature called Back Tap. That is, your iPhone's back panel will transform into a button. By tapping the back of the iPhone, you can use your iPhone back panel as a button.

The unique feature is that there is no specific section of the back panel that functions as a button; instead, touch-sensitive technology transforms the entire back panel into a button.

The unique thing about this is that you don't have to tap any specific section of the back panel; instead, the entire back panel transforms into a button. By enabling back tap on iPhone you may utilize the rear panel of your Apple smartphone as a button.

How does iPhone Back Tap Work?

With a new update, Apple has made the iPhone's rear panel touch-sensitive. Users have two options: double-tap or triple-tap, which can be used to set different tasks. Lock Screen, Mute, Screenshot, Shake, Volume Down, Volume Up, Siri, Spotlight, Assistive Touch, Classic Inverter, Power Inverter, Magnifier, Smart Invert, and Control Center are just a few of the features available through the rear panel. This functionality must be enabled through the options menu.

How to Enable Back Tap on iPhone:

The Back Tap gesture allows users to conduct an activity by tapping the back of their phones. Double-tap and triple tap are the two Back Tap motions, each of which can be programmed to do a different function. You can assign more than two dozen shortcuts to the Back Tap.

(Make sure your iPhone 8 or later is running the most recent version of iOS.)

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, then
  • On the Touch screen, scroll to the bottom and tap Back Tap.
  • Choose an action by tapping Double Tap or Triple Tap.
  • To activate the action you've set, double or triple tap the rear of your iPhone.

Check your phone case or cover if your Back Tap commands aren't working even after you've set Back Tap on iPhone. Some phone covers, particularly those that are thick, prevent your iPhone from picking up your taps. This could potentially be the result of a tiny bug that is easily addressed!

If iPhone Back Tap does not Work:

Fortunately, resolving this problem is straightforward and uncomplicated. There are five options available to you which may work.

1. Remove the case/cover or sticker that you previously applied (if it is thick and rugged).

2. Verify your phone compatibility.

(If you have iOS 14 or later loaded and can't find Back Tap, it's possible that your iPhone doesn't support the back tap feature.)

3. Make sure your iOS device is up to date:

(Update iPhone manually)

You can check for and install software updates at any time.

  • Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

The screen displays the current iOS version and whether or not an update is available.

4. Re-Enable Back Tap

  • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch, and tap Back Tap.
  • Tap Double Tap or Triple Tap and choose an action.

5. Restart the iPhone.

(Restarting an iPhone X, 11, 12, or 13)

  • Hold down either the volume or side buttons until the power off slider displays.
  • Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. Force-restart your device if it is frozen or unresponsive.
  • To reactivate your device, press and hold the side button (located on the right side of your iPhone) until the Apple logo appears.

(If it doesn't work, you can attempt a hard reboot.)
